Vivid Thoughts and Feels
In the past few weeks, or months, I have been listening to L'arc all the time. I couldn't go a day without listening to their songs. I have felt and realized a number of things in the course of my routine, so I want to write about it in here.
When I first listened seriously to laruku as my favourite band - when I was around 12, I've been listening their tunes emanating from my sisters' bedroom long before - I was not really fond of their old music. But it did not take me long to love all those classic 80/90s music. I started listening to their first album and Shutting From The Sky and Voice won me over. Then it was In The Air, All Dead, Blame, Wind Of Gold, Blurry Eyes, Inner Core, and White Feathers. During this time, I didn't really get into their Heavenly album, I thought everything was just ok and ordinary. But then, I remember suddenly being obsessed with Garasu Dama not long after. I love that song so much. Then I enjoyed other songs. After I was turning 14, I got into Gazette and listened to them non-stop for a good 2 years. But of course, I still craved for those L'arc songs now and again, and I spent loads of time in between for them and Gackt, D'espairsray, and Dir en grey. When I turned 17, I was listening more of laruku again, and this time more of Dir en grey too. I enjoyed more and more of both of them. It's funny, no matter how many years it has been since that particular song was released, I still enjoy it as much as ever. Now, I am listening to laruku all over again. I thought, there are some songs that I get rather tired listening to, but when it come to laruku, I find myself wanting to listen to some particular song now and then. And they have a lot of songs, and A LOT of them are my absolute favourites.
You see, I used to think that Vivid Colors and And She Said were rather ordinary, but then there was always some part of those songs that got stuck in my head and I cannot help but listen to them again and again. Plus, they like to play it during lives. Then I fell in love with those two songs. I feel rather nostalgic listening to laruku's old songs, because when I was younger I always listened to songs from their first 4 albums. Now, I feel like I can listen to all of their songs, and enjoy them all. Of course, there are some songs that I take closer to my heart, and there are songs that I am fond of better than the others. But still, all of these highly-regarded songs are still a little bit to many. I think I keep on saying, "Ooh! It's my favourite song!" to much too many songs. It is as if I don't have favourites, more like 'more loved' songs far out-weights those that are 'less loved'. I realize that people will think "What does she find appealing from them? Is must be because of their good-looking faces". Well, it is true that laruku's member have such beautiful faces and figures. But everything else is beyond sight. I love hyde's voice, all variations from when they first started out until now. I think he sings beautifully and incredibly. Not a common voice - no, but unique and is to my taste. Nobody else in this world have that original singing voice. I love ken's guitar riffs. They are simply amazing. I know how hard it is to master the guitar as ken have. He makes such breathtaking songs. To me, Forbidden Lover is a masterpiece. I have felt something truly heartfelt when I listen to one of the songs he's written. And tetsu, you have to love tetsu. He is fun and adorable. I love the flashy cute outfits he wears. And his bass lines are just awesome. I love it when he sings as Punk Tetsu. And the songs that he makes are equally wonderful. Needless to say, most of laruku's hits are the songs that tetsu and ken has written. And let's not forget the lovable yukihiro. The way he plays the drums is just amazing. He fits with laruku's songs like a glove. :) Revelation is so bad ass. Haha. I love how he acts all mysterious and when he flashes a smile, every fangirl is like suddenly been taken to the heavens. And their concerts are so much fun. I don't know if it's because I enjoy most of their songs, but their tours and concerts are amazing to me. I think L'arc is a perfect band.
I understand that probably some Japanese or other people might not find L'arc interesting or appealing, thinking that their songs are really ordinary or nothing special, but really, I find their songs most enjoyable. I find them most interesting and most appealing to me. I have listened to a lot of other bands, and I enjoy some of their songs, but none of them have such a grip on me like that of laruku. I think it's because they have such commercialized type of songs, that it starts to feel common of their genre and I lose interest. Whereas laruku, I think their songs really identifies them, 'it is a laruku song' kind of feeling, and then they make little twists and add special elements into their songs that make it enjoyable or make it get stuck in your head for days. So it is not so common of their genre anymore. It is no longer an ordinary song of their genre but a 'laruku song', and they cover different genres, definitely. That way, I never lose interest, towards new songs or old ones. There is this one band that is becoming more popular, and I admit they make great tunes, and I sing along to some of their songs, but then, their magic have little affect on me. I've gotten tired of them already. Perhaps someday I'll muster up the interest to listen to them again, who knows? And I get curious, they make good songs too, but what is it about laruku that makes me so hooked to them? I listen to more than 85% of their songs. I mean, you think their songs sound ordinary, right? Nothing special, right? Maybe a bit boring? Well, I really don't know what to say and how to explain it. Maybe if you love a band and never stopped listening to them for more then 7 years then you will understand.
