Limited Understanding
Today, I wanted to talk about this experience of mine, just to get it off my chest. I used to talk about scientific or unexplained discoveries to my friends. I just love telling them these stuff, discussing it with them. Talking about Einstein, theories, possibilities.... It's so fun.
However, some actually taught that I was close to blasphemy. I told them about the string theory and they couldn't except it. Well, it's granted that some people wouldn't accept the idea of multiverses and the idea of string theory. I totally understand. But what those people do not understand, is that I am not trying to make it seem like I do not believe in the day of Judgment where all human beings will be judged for their actions. I'm just considering the idea that other life forms could exist out there. In Islam, we believe that there are other creations apart from human beings, and there is no definite saying of what kind of creatures are there. There is a definite possibility that other life forms can exist outside Earth as much as there are other life forms on Earth. Protozoa, bacteria, microorganisms, animals who adapted to live in extreme conditions... These creatures exist in out world. What more to say of the universe? I'm not saying that there is definitely life forms out there. I am saying that there is a possibility and if scientists wants to confirm that search for them, try to find out about it, then I don't mind. My beliefs in the One, The Knowing, and The Merciful and towards Muhammad s.a.w. will not change. I think it actually increases my love for Allah and this religion more.
I am just very humbly surprised that some people could think that it is blasphemous when Allah can and would do anything. If he wants to create other life forms in the universe, he definitely can, no doubt about that. I've come to the conclusion that some people do not have open-enough brains to accept the reality of that possibility. I don't blame them because they are just wired that way.
What is so wrong with knowing about the scientific advancements and discoveries from the West? They definitely have more funding and technologies to facilitate scientific advancements. And if they found something, which has evidence and relevance, why would we reject it and say "Jangan percaya sangat kat org Barat". And am I supposed to believe you who don't know a thing about what Einstein discovered? Well, who am I to judge. Why can't people understand the relevance of science to our religion? It means a lot! May Allah guide us to the right path. Wallahualam.
